Spring Fling Success!
On Sunday, April 11, hundreds of people turned out for the Wright-Locke Farm Spring Fling party, reveling in sunshine and exploring the farm on a beautiful spring day. Farm volunteers gave tours, visitors sampled squash dishes and learned about the history of this special place, and kids rolled in the grass and met furry friends in the petting zoo. Local band “Off the Record” provided live music.
This event was made possible, and a huge success, because of the help of so many.
- The members of "Off the Record" for the fantastic tunes;
- "Animal Craze" of Winchendon who brought a friendly and fuzzy gaggle of animals for children old and young to cuddle;
- Our crossing guards Bob Johnson, Charles Tseckares, Scott Gilmour, Nathan Rome, Rob Quinn and Roger Wilson, who made order out of chaos on Ridge Street.
- Thanks to the young people who cleaned the barn, Grace and Clay Gilmour and Kate Wendell, and to the WHS students who organized the egg hunt, Ari Albanese, Meg Creane and Rob Pontrelli.
- We are grateful to John Clemson, Werner Carlson and Jim Whitehead who gave tours.

Most of all, thank you to the hundreds of people who showed up and made this event a lot of fun. A party is nothing without participants.

The Wright-Locke Farm Conservancy’s mission is to steward the land, preserve the historic buildings, and to continue operation of the farm. This is no small endeavor and we need your help.
Our first major project is to replace the failing roof on the 1827 barn. The EnKa Society and the Winchester Rotary have made generous donations, for which we are grateful, and the Spring Fling added to our fund, but we still need to raise more than half of the money for a new roof.
Please contribute to our New Roof for the Barn project!
We are grateful for your generous donations of any amount, large or small, to preserve this special treasure.
